What should your speed be like when performing the triple jump?

the approach is similar to the long jump, you need to generate speed, but be able to control your body.

Most people want to run at about 7/8 top speed.

You are converting your energy or horizontal speed into a jump, and in the triple you must maintain that speed through the phases to complete the jump.

What triple jump spikes are the best ???

im looking for a quality spike for long and triple jump (especially triple) but dont know which ones are best. ive heard asics makes the best ones but have also seen good mizuno, adidas, nike, and reebok shoes. ill be competing as a junoir girl this season and my distances are about 5.10 in the long and 11.10 in the triple.|||I personally use the Adidas Adistar Tripple Jump. Yes, that's how it's spelled. I found that it has great heel padding and a firm plate for better power transfer. It's also got a zipper to protect the laces and provide more aerodynamic....ness.... I don't know what the noun form of that word is. But yeah, I'd say that the Adistar is a solid triple jump spike.

How to do triple jump?

last season my coach said suggested i learn triple jump because i'm really good at long jump but no one on my team knows how.So could someone plz help and provide videos if possible.

tx in advance|||Triple jump is much like long jump. First you start running like long jump, then when you reach the first board ( usually about 20ft away from the sandpit) you jump and then you get to put touch the ground three times before you reach the long jump board, then you land just like long jump.

You measure from the farther board so your good jumps should be like 30ft|||http://www.everythingtrackandfield.com/c鈥?/a>

What kind of weight lifting should i do to improve my long and triple jump distance?

triple

(38'10")

long

(18'2")|||I agree with the answer already given, BUT

some examples of good exercises for powerful legs:

Squats - Medium weight. once form is good, find some bands, and use them. FULL range of motion.

Leg curls - lighter weight, but explode up back to your starting position. Slooooow on the way down.

Calves - Mix of jumprope/footfires, and medium-to-heavy calf raises.

Abs are also going to be very important to you (roman chairs, decline crunches), but explosive power is key, so get those legs trained!|||You should do a total body routine along with plyometrics.

You don't just jump with your legs it takes your entire body.

How to improve my Triple Jump?

im in Grade 9 on my high school track team and i jump 13 meters. but i need to improve my 2nd phase! how?|||one way to improve ur jump is to hav ur coach put like jumping bags in the pits and hav u jump over them, making them higher and higher, because the higher u jump, the further. And it helps to get ur legs up, which is what u want to do. Make sure ur wearing spikes and using tape, since it helps u get the right footing and a good run before u jump. Putting tape down and sterting from a spacific distance really helps. U should also do accelorations( practice runs of like 100m so u get a good run) and run throughs( running on the runway but not junping when u get to the pit to get ur footing rite) and stretching before u jump. Hope this helps. and make sure u ask ur coach for help! %26lt;3|||13 meters? im almost pos. that that is measured in feet because if you are jumping 13 meters...about 39 ft. you have set an amazing world record and you need absolutely NO help.

i know my jump is really bad and i jump 24 ft. girls at district track competitions jump almost 32 ft. and that is amazing.

it should be a hop skip and a jump correct?

and if you need help on your second phase... make sure that after your hop...you are really throwing your leg back to get that good long extended "skip" forward. im sure you have been taught to do this and you know that triple jump is hard to explain. your first hop should be full of exertion. its a tough thing to explain and something that you cant get better with overnight. you should see if your coach had an videos that might help you. and practice! practicing will help tremendously. good luck (:|||right when you start to jump, you need to take the biggest crap you possibly can

How can i improve in triple jump?

I'm a freshmen and my best jump is like 34.11 feet. i KNOW thats not great at all so you don't have to tell me that. I have a decent 1st and 3rd phase i was just wondering how to improve on my step/middle phase...|||The most common reason for a short second phase is because your first phase it too long.

The first phase should be about 1/3 your total distance.

If you go too far or too high in the first phase you will not be able to run off the landing for your second phase.

Practice keeping your first phase controlled so you do not collapse on landing and can run off the landing into the second phase.|||Well, one of the best ways to exercise to improve your springiness is quite simple - to jump up and down on the spot, each time trying to spring higher than the previous. Practice using your arms to jump and thrust up.

When doing weights, concentrate on developing leg muscles, but also some arm strength can help to push you forward.

Also practice jumping forward from standing starts as well as from running - again this can help develop muscles, strength and build technique.

How to further my Triple Jump?

I'm a Junior in High School and my current PR is 43'9". I don't get the opportunity to work in practice as much as I would like, due to other events (high jump, 300m hurdles, 4x4). This has looked to be my most promising event this year, and I would like to gain another foot by state (May 29th) Any suggestions welcomed and appreciated!|||You sound like you're doing a lot of stuff right already.

Perhaps at home you could work on your core strength, and work on some plyometrics. Both of those things will help make you steady and strong, and allow you to hold your positions during each of the jumping movements, and also to allow you to have better body control on that last jump into the pit. Also, you may want to work on your sprints. While 300m and the 400 are sprints, they're longer sprints--the triple jump approach is much, much shorter than those. You need to be explosive and fast.

So: sprints (100m or less), core work out, plyometric work out.

Good luck!

Anyone have any triple jump training tips?

Im trying to add like 5 ft or so to my triple jump. I jump like a 39' now, and i want to try and make it to state (hopefully : ) )|||Work on your plant foot, also, do leg exercises, each leg individually, lots of stretching, and when you jump, the first jump, look up.

What happened to the kid that set the U.S high school record in the triple jump?

He jumped 56 feet then was never heard from again. Did he go to college? Did he quit the sport? He seems to have disappeared off the planet.|||I never heard of this. The world record is only 4 more feet, are you sure this is accurate.|||Yes, he set the record at the national J.O. meet in Eugene 7/29/04 when he was 18. He jumped a legal 54 ft. 10 1/4 inches. He signed with Hinds Community College. He dropped out of sight so I do not know what happened to him. He was from Baton Rouge, La. By the way the world record is a fraction of an inch over 60 feet.

Which type of shoes should I get for either triple jump or long jump?

I can only afford one pair and cannot tell which i am better at and I love competing in them both, i am wondering if on type of shoe is better fr the other event than the other type of shoes so I can compete in both the events with the same pair of shoes.|||Go with the Triple Jump shoes. The only difference between LJ and TJ spikes are the amount of foam in the midsole and the width of the heel. The TJ spike will have more material under the mid-foot and a wider heel because of the demands of the event. It's harder to Triple jump in Long jump shoes than the other way around. I would recommend adidas adizero TJ if you can find them or New Balance TJ 1010. I personally prefer New Balance because they are light yet have plenty of cushioning to prevent injuries.

Good Luck!|||I think i will go with the addidas adizero tj's.......

Can you use Long Jump/Triple Jump spikes for sprints?

However, always train in your training shoes for both.|||It would be better to jump with sprint shoes rather than run in jump shoes.

How to add distance to Long & Triple Jump ?

Im going to Zones (for Track %26amp; Field) %26amp; I really want to add more distance.

Im 13 years old.

In long jump, I got 3.30 metres. (10.8 feet)

In triple jump, I got 7.46 metres. (24.4 feet)

Any help ?

:)|||Experience in this event is definitely going to be fundamental to greater success in this event. Knowing where your placement of distance should be, what your form for sprint, approach, launch, mid air, and landing are all going to do the most good for you.

For form, I would watch some videos of slow motioned long and triple jumpers that are best of the best and try to emulate the form that you see there. To increase from there, also be sure to hit the weights and try to increase your strength as this will help with your sprint speed and spring. Be sure also to try to keep flexibility up as it will be important for an effective landing.

And last, don't be afraid of a little spiking. Every good long jumper I've known has spiked their arms at least once while jumping. Don't let it get you down or be more cautious. how can i swing my legs after the first jump ?

my first jump only like 2 meters .. =(|||The important thing is not to have the first phase too long, so that the second phase is too short.

Each phase should be relatively the same.

On the first phase you are taking one step in the air so that you take off of the same foot for both.

Use your arms in a running motion so that your legs move.

You need lift, but not a lot of lift because you want to contact the ground in a pawing motion and if you jump too high you will collapse your contact leg.

Place markers on the ground and practice the first phase into the second phase.

After you can do these correctly then you can work on the third phase and into the sand.|||I tried the triple jump in high school. I had existing knee problems, and the strain the TJ put on them was brutal. It was fun though, and I hope you do well!

|||Some common mistakes are to jump too high, so that you collapse on landing and can not get a good next phase.

Often people will jump too far in the first phase so they don't have any spring for the second phase.

Practice getting your first and second phases close to the same distance.

Don't jump too high so you won't collapse during the support portion of the next phase.

Use the single arm technique it is more consistent than the double arm.

What is the state qualifier? Practice your first and second phases so that each phase is about 1/3 of that distance, if you can carry your momentum then your third phase should also equal 1/3 your jump distance.

I know that you can not get all 3 phases to be equal, but getting close is the way to practice.

i am in triple jump for my school and right now i can just reach the edge [front of] of the pit. how can i improve this?|||one thing that really worked for me was taking a hurdle, ad placing it right where you jump, this will help u add height, which in turn adds distance.|||i used to do triple jump. listen to your coaches, or ask the older jumpers because they have alot of experience. but most of your jump comes from your legs, so try building muscle in your legs and work on your technique. when you are in the air keep your feet close to your body to help you go farther. and when you do your hop-skip-jump try and take big steps. and when you are running on the runway, make sure that you are going your fastest. hope that helps, good luck with jumping =)|||You need to talk to your coach and/or trainer about it. They're professionals who can offer ideas that won't be dangerous for you. Don't try things yourself without their approval.|||One problem most beginners have is a short middle phase. I work on this with the athletes I coach. Make sure your first, second, and third jump are all about the same length. Your second jump might be 1 foot shorter. For example, a 30' jump should be about 11'-9'-10'. Be sure you are not jumping too high on the first jump, but that you are jumping forward. Jump low, with more distance. If the first jump is too high, you lose your power on impact for your second jump.

In practice, move up on the runway so that you are getting to the sand until your confidence and ability allows you to jump from the competition board. Don't worry about the board until your technique and jumping ability is good. It won't matter if you hit the board if you don't make it to the sand.|||Usually people jump too far on the first phase and lose all of their momentum for the second and third phase. You must carry your speed through the entire jump sequence. How far are you jumping and have you measured the different phases? If you can jump 30 feet do not hop further than 10 feet. If you do then the second phase will be too short and you will not have any spring or speed to carry into the third phase. Remember not to jump too high. Because when you go up you also have to come down and recover from the jump. Think about taking a long stride, stretch out, not up. You will get up, but you do not have to get up high. If you jump too high generally you will collapse when you come down and not have any spring. Simply shorten the first and lengthen the second and third phases. Doing plyos will strengthen your legs and some of these exercises are directly related to triple jump. Such as bounding off of one leg and then alternating legs. Practice your approach on the runway from a distance you feel comfortable at reaching the pit. Not worrying about reaching the pit you should be able to concentrate on the third phase, when you see you can reach the pit then you can jump from the board with confidence.

Triple Jump?

i will participate in Triple Jump competition in my School Sports Day .. ( first time join Triple Jump ) ..

so know ..

i need to know .. how i can improve my Triple Jump technique and the distance..

sorry for my broken english ..

thanks|||It's just a hop, skip, and a jump to the pit!

hop = same foot to same foot

skip = one foot to the other

jump = one foot to two feet

Take off the board with your most dominant leg. Single or double arm action may be used through the jump phases, but should be swung powerfully and through a large range of motion.

posture should be similar to that of sprinting – neutral head and pelvis position with center of mass slightly behind ground contact of the foot, ankle should be stabilized and dorsiflexed prior to impact, do not “grab” or “claw” at the ground – think of “catching” and “pushing” off from the ground. there should be no lowering of your center of mass at the penultimate step

Drills to do in practices are.

Horizontal jump drills include:

acceleration run

half approaches

board-less approaches

runway rehearsal with and without a take off

repetitive takeoffs

short run takeoffs/jumps

remedial horizontal and vertical bounds

intermediate horizontal and vertical bounds

advanced short run jumps

short run jumps|||Good, keep up the training, do some of the drills I listed in practices which will help, especially the short runs, run jumps, acceleration runs with rejearsal, everything you would do in a competition

|||The triple jump can be broken down to five different phases 1.) the approach 2.) the take off or hop(part 1 of the actual jump) 3.) the first change of legs or the skip(part 2 of the actual jump) 4.) the final drive or the jump(part 3 of the actual jump) and 5.) the landing. You need to work on all 5 aspects of the jump if you really want to have major increases in your distance.

For training purposes you can break your season into three sections. Divideing the phases of the jump into these three sections will allow you to work on all aspects of the jump but not be over whelmed all at the same time.

Section 1 - Work on the first two phases of the jump. Work on mastering your approach run so that you could run it through ten times everyday and be with in an inch or two each day. Second work on the Hop or 1st part of the jump. The biggest mistake that new jumpers make is takeing to big of a first jump (hop) so they have no power for the 2nd (phase 3) part of the jump. Learn to get your kneee up and keep yourself under control.

Section 2 - work on the 3rd phase (part 2 of the actual jump) or the skip. This is the hardest part of the triple jump. If your first jump is to big 99.9% of the time your 2nd jump is nothing more then a step because your not strong enough to power out. *Remember all three jumps should be as close to equla in distance as possible* Again work on driveing that knee up and holding it. Let the ground come to you, don't reach for it. Learn when to throw your arms back and then drive them forward into the third jump.

Section 3 - The third jump (phase 4) or the hop and the landing (phase 5). I have seen kids loose up to 6 inches off of their jumps for not collapsing and extending their feet.

Anyways these are just some different idea's on things you can work on. I hope they help.|||Well congratulations first of all for wanting to try.

It is not something easy.

How do i increase the distance of my middle step in triple jump?

i was looking at videos of my jumps and i kept noticing my middle step wasn't long enough, it just kept landing after the hop, so i need to know how to make it go longer?|||It is common for the second phase to be the shortest, mainly because people usually take too long a hop in the first phase.

Ideally each phase will be the same distance, or very close to the same distance.

Going too high will also cause you to collapse when you land so you can not support yourself into the second phase.

You can tell by the sound of your landing if you are coming down too hard, the landing and take off is more of a step rather than a landing, and then a jump.

Try pawing the ground, meaning that your foot is coming rearward when it contacts the ground.

In practice you can measure the distance you want to cover in the first phase, practice hitting that distance and then running off the landing into the second phase.

In summary, don't go too far or too high in the first phase to have a better second phase.|||what sport are you talking about?|||i try to write the answers your problem in my blog http://www.mystructuredsettlement.co.cc you can see any problem in my blog.

How do I train for Triple Jump?

I need help with my run-through and my lifting. Any help would be appreciated.|||The most common problem with triple jumpers is that they jump too far and/or high on the first phase, so they have a very short second phase.

You should strive to have 3 equal phases, which means to be conservative on the first phase so you still have some bound left in your legs for the second and third phases.

Unlike the long jump on the triple you have to paw the ground on landing and drive forward again, so you angle of lift is not as steep, because if you go very high you have to come down and when you land you will not be able to support yourself, causing your landing leg to collapse.

Use your arms, they help drive you forward. Most people are more consistent using a single arm rather than double arm.

In practice look at your total jump distance, then mark the track or runway. Practice your first and then your first and second phase so you can learn how far to jump in the first phase.

You want to approach with as much speed as you can use and still be able to control your body in the air.

For most jumpers that is about 7/8 speed.

Be consistent in your approach so you take the same size strides and don't have to adjust near the board.|||the first thing would be to get you run up sorted first. you can do this by running back so may steps then get some one to get where that stride is then run it back to see if it is correct and adjust accordingly.

to get the lift correct then lots of bunny hops (frog up what ever you call them) and hoping this will straighten your leg muscles to give you better lift on the take off also do standing triple jump this will help as well.

good luck

My PR's are

Long Jump: 19'3"

Triple Jump: 40'5"

Hey, when you land, do you slide into your landing, or try to slide to the side? If you land and just stand there when you land, that takes quite a bit of your jump. If you slide into it, it can add a whole 18"! It did it for me ;)|||No. Not Varsity material, but okay, I guess. Can I use mid distance spikes for the triple jump?

I've been using sprinting spikes but since the TJ uses the heel, I want to know if those sprinting shoes are alright still.|||If your school/division allows it then you can use sprinting spikes, but personally I wouldn't.

Like you said, the TJ uses the heel, but sprinting spikes are designed to keep you on the balls of your feet [toe and heel up] so they won't help you too much. Since I'm not a serious long jumper or triple jumper I use nike distance spikes from cross country whenever I long jump, and they're fine. But if TJ is something more serious to you then you should invest in a pair of jumping spikes:

Is it true that Australian government decided to hold yearly long jump and triple jump competitions?

for kangaroos in Stadium Australia, because they wanted to participate in regular competitions, but were banned to enter; so they felt that they were discriminated against based on their race (kangaroo race as opposed to humans), and marches of protests spread all over the country; so the authorities had to give up and allow a special competition, and the winners will be rewarded with a gold, silver and bronze medal, and it supposed to attract wide media coverage?|||Of Course|||What the.......??????? How do i make my 2nd hop for triple jump better?

I have a pretty good 1st jump, but when i come down for the 2nd i dont know what the problem is but i cant seem to keep momentum or something and my 2nd is only about 4 or 5 feet. are there any ways to improve this?|||Most triple jumpers have a short second phase because the first phase is too long, and they jump too high.

The take off for the second phase is more a running motion than a jumping motion, you must be able to carry your momentum through each phase.

If your second phase is too short you probably are going too far on the first phase.

Each phase should be almost the same distance, so you can practice staying under control and limiting the length and height of the first phase.|||actually, surprisingly, you can really improve the take off of your 2nd jump by strengthening your arms and ankles. How can i improved the 2nd jump on triple jump?

Whenever i do it, it just seems like i dont go anywhere. do i reach also or what?|||Normally a short second phase is because the first phase is too long.

Try to control the first phase, it should be about 1/3 of your total jump.

Also do not go high in the air.

The higher you go the farther you fall before hitting the ground, and can collapse so you don't have any spring left for the next phase.

Use your arms, think about running off the landing rather than trying to land, collect yourself, and then jump again.|||First of all, don't jump so hard on your first jump. When I triple jump, I think of going far horizontally instead of vertically on the first jump. Also, you should jump weak, weak, strong so you can have your maximized jump for last. Don't worry much about the second jump, it's pretty tough to master, and you just need to put some muscle on your calf by weight training.|||Two words. Rocket shoes.

How can I train to go farthest in track and field's triple jump?

Do you have any tips for jumping really far, or practicing for consistent results? thanks!|||Lift weights and do plyometric exercise.

When jumping the common mistake is jumping too far in the first phase, which causes the second phase to be too short.

Control your body so that you still have spring and energy when landing on each phase.

Don't jump too high, because you have to land and if you are too high you will collapse and not have any spring for the next phase.

Does anybody know any workout routines,(like in the gym) that can help me maximize how far I jump?|||plyometrics as well as flexibility will help you jump further. i cant give you a specific program to work off of since i dont know your body type. one tip is to stretch out and hold your 2nd phase as long as possible. 4. Dead lift - Back of legs (hamstring)

5. Leg extension/Leg curl - Machine

What are some good Triple Jump shoes?

I want to buy a good pair of Triple Jump shoes for Indoor track, it has to have a rubber bottom ie no pebax stuff. Money is not a problem|||everyone has different feet shapes and sizes, that is why you cant rely on suggestions from people to buy stuff automatically. you are going to have to try on any shoe before you buy it or else you will have to pay the shipping (if it is online) to return it and it will cost you time. i suggest you just get some trainers or running shoes. go to many shoe or running shoe stores and try on shoes. take the ones you like the most. and rate them by these things in order

fit-not to tight not too loose

support- mostly the heel on the back (size) (bigger better)

comfortability- feels good to walk in them

look- self explanatory

color- match with most of your shirts/ clothes

if you try on a pair of shoes that you like you can try buying them on ebay or eastbay.com, or any other running shoe website and are likely to get them cheap. good luck with finding the right shoe

The lightweight shoes will work in the meantime but get those spikes ASAP. You will see the difference when you use them. Keep at it and good luck.

Dave|||You should use spikes for the jumps. You can buy specialized jumps spikes, but if you are going to be running too you can get sprint spikes that will be decent jump spikes.

However, you can jump in anything that is comfortable. Even barefoot if you like.|||Absoultly not u sometomes get screwed up with landing on spikes|||spikes are ideal for triple jump, especially the ones designed for the event. dont listen to all the other people about how it will mess up your landing, because it doesnt and they probly just dont do it rite!

How do you improve on triple jump?

Hi, i have an athletics competition tomorrow and i was wondering how i could improve my jump. Im hoping to get my jump up to 9 metres at the moment my best is unfortunaly 8.21M could anyone help|||Most people jump too far and too high in the first phase which causes a too short second phase.

You want to try to get all three phases about the same distance.

Remember that you are running off the first landing into your second phase, it is not a land, and then jump motion.

Practice controlling your body so you keep your speed and momentum.

Set out some markers and go 3 meters on the first, then 3 meters on the second, then as far as possible on the third and final phase.|||For tomorrow? Visualize your jump. Repeat it in your head a million times. Get rest before the meet. Wake up 4 hours before you jump. Anyone have good tips for the triple jump?

I use youtube a lot, but I have yet to find any text explaining the steps an form I should have. I currently jump around 38-39 feet, but I am just starting out, so I have a lot of room for improvement. Any help would be appreciated.|||The most common mistake made by beginners is they jump too far on the first phase which causes a short second phase. They also jump too high, which causes them to lose their sprint when they land, so they can not spring into the next phase. Have someone help measure your phases and see how close they are to being even. If there is a large difference between the first and second phase work on controlling your first phase so you can get much longer second and third phases. Use your arms and strike the ground with a pawing motion do not block when you hit the ground. If your foot is too far in front of you it causes you to brake before you can make the next movement.|||I have same problem|||Put Some Power Into It

After you leave the board there will be swinging movements in the air during the three jump phases. Triple jump technique points for athletes and coaches to keep in mind: the free leg should swing powerfully through a large range of motion with a somewhat straight leg so that heel recovery height is low – overemphasizing knee lift in the free leg swing is a mistake.

Single or double arm action may be used through the jump phases, but should be swung powerfully and through a large range of motion. The free leg swing is important for horizontal velocity, but much more important because it helps maintain the proper pelvic alignment so that the jumper may make contact in with the ground through each phase in the optimal position to move through the next phase. Forward or backward lean in any of the phases is a common error that should be avoided.

It Gets Easier

To beginning jumpers, triple jump technique may at first feel awkward and different than other running or even jumping events. However, if they are going to excel at triple jumping and remain injury-free, proper triple jump technique is essential.

As a coach and an athlete, for the triple jump approach, keep in mind: posture should be similar to that of sprinting – neutral head and pelvis position with center of mass slightly behind ground contact of the foot, ankle should be stabilized and dorsiflexed prior to impact, do not “grab” or “claw” at the ground – think of “catching” and “pushing” off from the ground.

Drills are an extremely useful and productive tool in triple jump training as they are for any jump, throw, or hurdle event. Many triple jump drills are similar to long jump or sprinting drills. A triple jump drill by itself is not special when not connected to a training progression.

Associate One With Another

It may surprise you to know that the triple jump take off is most like the pole vault than any other event. The track spikes for the triple jump are also built and angled the same as pole vault spikes. When preparing to take off in any jumping event, it is important to maintain maximal speed while setting up for the jump.

In the triple jump, there is no lowering of the jumpers' center of mass at the penultimate step as there is in the high jump and the long jump. Triple jumpers are not converting their speed at take off into vertical speed; they still need to move horizontally into the three jump phases.

If you take off the board in the long jump with your left leg, you run off the board in the triple jump on your right leg so that your last and most powerful jump at the end of the triple jump is off your most dominant leg.

How can I improve my performance in Long/Triple/High jump?

I know there all different events, my current best jumps are 4.84 for Long, 10.1 for triple and 1.45 for high jump, so theres alot of room for improvement|||Sure they are all different event, but they all end in the same word - jump. Therefore, if you improve your jumping ability, you will improve each of these events. If you can jump higher, you will also be able to jump longer. It is a matter of physics.

In the long jump, for example, you run and jump into the air. How far you travel is dependent on two things - how fast you run and how high you jump. If your speed stayed the same, but you jumped higher, you would land further away (your long jump would be improved). As a note before we go on, many people don't realize that jumping and sprinting are very related in that they are explosive actions. If you do improve your jumping ability, you will probably improve your sprinting speed as well. This will give you an additional increase in your long (and triple) jump!

It is not difficult to improve your jumping ability, but it is more involved than what can be covered here. To get the best improvement, you should use a vertical jump program. This website has researched the top products and provides a review of the benefits of each of them. Check it out. You could be on your way to improving your jumping shortly.|||the best way i know is to try a jump program. It may cost a little but if you follow it, it will increase your vertical and probably your speed. This is the one i recommend|||Lift weights, do plyometric exercises, and work on technique.

Also u should run hills and lift weight to make ur legs stronger.|||Easy. Just go and buy yourself a new pair of shoes. A pair of extra bouncy socks also help. The new record is within your reach!|||The triple jump is an athletics (track and field) event, previously also known as "hop, skip and jump", whose various names describe the actions a competitor takes. The athlete runs down a runway until he reaches a designated mark, from which the jump is measured. The takeoff mark is a board, and in modern championships a strip of plasticine is attached to the board to record athletes overstepping the mark. The first landing has to be done with the takeoff foot. The next phase is a skip (or step), landing on the opposite foot, and is followed by the jump, into a sand-filled box, as in the long jump. A "foul" or missed jump occurs when a jumper oversteps the launch mark (most commonly), misses the pit entirely, or does not perform the attempt in the allotted amount of time (usually about one minute).

The triple jump has been included in the modern Olympic Games since its first celebration in 1896. In fact, the first modern Olympic Champion, James Connolly, was a triple jumper, however, the event at this time consisted of two hops and a jump. In 1996, a triple jump event for women was added to the Olympics, having already been included in both the Outdoor World Championships and World Indoor Championships.

The current male and female world record holders are Jonathan Edwards of the UK, with a jump of 18.29 metres (G枚teborg, August 7, 1995) and Inessa Kravets of Ukraine with a jump of 15.50 metres (G枚teborg, August 10, 1995). The men's world indoor record is shared by Aliecer Urrutia of Cuba and Christian Olsson of Sweden with a mark of 17.83 metres. The women's world indoor record measures 15.36 metres, jumped by Tatyana Lebedeva of Russia at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Hope this helps!!

What is a good triple jump distance for a 14 year old boy?

Today was my track meet and I got the longest distance of 29 feet and some inches. I was about the size of my shoe, which is a size 11, behind my board so i would have been a little farther but should I aim to jump farther?|||well i dont know about 14 year boys but my friend high school girl who is the two time state champ best jump is 37 feet but your already farther than our best boy triple jumper so i think your on your way just get a little bit more muscles and your good

How can I improve my approach for triple jump?

I am a jumper, and I know I have to go fast. I have decent form and speed training. I am wondering if there is anything more than going fast that I can do to jump farther with regard to the approach.|||when im goin in for a jump...i dont think about it!

if u practice it...u should know it!

sooo when i reach a certain mark i know "here we go!" and i start jumping

so the next time you practice think about it then just let ur mind wonder and do wat u gotz too do|||the best thing you can do is just practice it. maybe you can start further back so you can catch more speed.

Zone Athletics in two weeks, how do i train for triple jump and 4x100 relay (4th leg)?

I have recently competed in a primary school district athletics comp, i came 2nd in Triple Jump and are now progressing to zones. i am also going thought to zones for relay and i am running the 4th leg. we won by alot and all ran really well. how should i train, i need to keep fit and run at my full potepotential,

Thanks

p.s. i am 12 so no weights!!|||the best way to train for one thing is to pratice that one thing and to push yourself. just run like five reps of the 100meters, and pratice tripple jumping every day. also something that can help your triple jump is to hop 30-50 meters on each leg a few times a day. good luck|||Work on your endurance. Try a run in the morning (after stretching!) and maybe see if you can practice the courses. Good luck!

Triple jump question to all you Track and Field masters?

Triple jump question to all you Track and Field masters?

ok. so, i am in seventh grade, and my triple jump coach told me that it is bad to jump To Far on the first fase (the first jump). How is this true? And...when i take the step inbetween the two jumps, i always pull a muscle at the back of my leg. how do i stop this? Thanks in advance.|||First question:

When doing triple jump, if you jump as far as you can on the first jump, you'll come down too hard and off balance and will not be able to jump very far on the other two jumps. It is best for the first jump to be mostly forwards, don't get as much height on it as you usually would, just kind of push yourself forwards. It's kind of like a very big running stride.

For the second question, the first thing I think of is are you stretching enough. If you don't jog and stretch to warm up and loosen your muscles before a physically demanding track meet or practice, you risk hurting yourself with all the strain you put on your unprepared muscles. Take a lap and the do some stretches before you train or compete. If you already do a warm up, then my next advice would be to see a physiotherapist if you can.

How can i improve my triple jump?

I am doing triple jump on my school's track and field team, i am wondering if anyone knows some ways that will deffinetly help me train and become better?|||The most common mistake is to jump too far and too high on the first phase.

All three phases should be about equal in distance.

If you go too far in the first phase you don't have any speed or energy left to go very far in the second phase.

Practice running through the second phase and not going too far in the first phase.

How can I improve my triple jump?

I'm looking for excersizes that can help me to improve my distance on the triple jump because right now, I'm averaging around 32 feet and want to get that at least high enough to go to sections for this event. That'd be around 36 feet as per two year ago, but the only person I've ever known to be able to get that far graduated that year. Anyway, thanks for the help in advance and as usual, ten points for best answer. :)|||You can lift weights and do plyometrics to improve your strength and ability to jump.

You can work on your technique to improve your distance.

Most people make the mistake of going too far in the first phase which causes the second phase to be too short.

You can practice this not the runway or track or grass.

another problem is going too high in the first phase, if you go too high you will collapse when you land and can not transition into the second phase correctly.

You should be running off the landing, not landing, and then jumping.

You are 4 ft short so you should measure your phases so you will know what you are doing, and then work on getting the first and second close to the same distances.

What spikes are good for triple jump?

I triple jump, high jump, and do 300hurdles and 400

i was wondering if the nike zoom rival d iv is better or nike zoom rival s iv

i really wanna get the rival s cuz it looks cooler and has the strip that goes across your forefoot. so i guess my real question is is it alright to triple jump in the rival s (which has no heel cushion at all) or will i like die (aka get seriously injured)|||You need a shoe with a heel and some cushion in the sole.

What looks cool doesn't really matter in how a shoe performs and protects your feet.

What is the difference b/w Long Jump and Triple Jump?

What is the difference between long jump and triple jump? Plz explain..

10 POINTS.|||The long jump is when you run to a mark, take off from behind it and see how far laterally you can jump. The triple jump is when you get to a mark you have to hop off your leading foot, then that same foot hits the ground first (thats a hop), you take as long a step with the other foot as you can and when that foot hits the ground, you jump as far as you can.

What's the best strategy for triple jump?

I'm participating in triple jump on sprts day, is there any technique to it?|||Im not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I am a triple jumper in track so I can give you my best advice lol

-get a good pair of spikes..if not, then just wear and light running shoes

-go at full speed and NEVER look down at the board (look straight)..that's why its important to stay at consistent speed and have your marks beore the event starts

-don't go high on your 1st step..always go all out on your last step (just before you land in the pit)

-when landing in the pit..keep your knees high so you stay in the air longer and cover more distance..

that's all I can think of right now lol

hope I helped you :)

Anyone with tips to improving my long jump n triple jump?

I jump 10.66m in triple jump and 5.30m in long jump. I need help to improve my jumping distance for both jumps any suggestions??|||Pylometrics and weight training. You'll notice the difference immediately.

How to be good at triple jump?

my pr after 3 meets is only 25ft 9inches (I accidently put my hands in back though other why's it's be way higher) what are some tips to be good at triple jump? I'm a sophomore girl in high school|||Sprint training will increase your overall leg power, but it will especially help your quadriceps gain strength (the main muscles used for jumping). So try a few 200m sprints 3/4 days a week. If you're really feeling up for it you could try some gym workouts focusing on your legs too.

Otherwise, general techniques such as posture, stride length and technique will be improved with practice.

Happy jumping!

Does anyone have any Triple Jump tips?

I jump off of my right leg for long jump, but I don't know which one to go off first for triple jump.

If you have any triple jump tips too that would be great!|||Well... if you jump off you right, I reckon you would probably go right - right - left, but try both to see which is most comfortable.

As for tips, well everyone gets really worked up with tring to get their foot on the edge of the board, but before you do that, you have to get your feet together when you land. If you can't get them together, you negate any advantage you gain by having your foot on the edge of the board, cos your back foot is 10 centimetres behind your front, or whatever.

When you have made sure that you have got your feet together, then try to get your actual jumps better. Make sure that as you are in the air and doing the hop, you do a full stride as if you were running off your left foot, because it gives your leg more momentum coming in and stops your Hip Flexors busting out...

When doing the stride, try to get as much spring as possible going mainly outwards, but a bit upwards. The jump is a no-brainer really, just jump as far as you can, and bring your legs forward as you are about to land, it will give you about 40 cms more distance.

When you have got all this right, then work on your run-up. Do a full run-up out to where you would start the hop, and have a friend see where your foot lands. Then put something there to mark it and try your run-up. Get the friend(s) to see how far your foot is from the board, and adjust your run-up accordingly.

When you have got this sorted out, go from the front of the board to your marker, and measure the distance in foot-lengths (where you put one foot directly in front of another) and remember it, it makes it much easier to mark out your run up before competitions etc.

Or you could just completely ignore me...

Sorry if i've bored you ;) Hope it helps :)|||try jumping|||You would jump right- right- left. keep your height low and run off the board. try to land flat-footed to gear up for the next phase. hope this helps you.

Why we dont have a person doing both long jump and triple jump at an international level when?

we have sprinters who can do long jump in the highest level.I can give numerous example, Marion Jones, Carl Lewis,Jessie Owens but between long jump and triple jump, we dont have people who do both in common.

I have been a triple jumper in college level, I may admit that triple jumping is not just speed but l feel triple jumpers can do well in long jump and vice versa|||There are people who can do both well, but not on the elite level.

This is like asking why people can not win both the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles.

They are two completely different events and even though they appear to be the same they are not.

At one time there were people who were elite in long jump and high jump, but as performances have improved it has become impossible to train to do different events like these.

Someone who can do different events can not usually do any of them at the elite level.

Since you do both long and triple you understand that they are two completely different animals.

How far can an 8th grade girl triple jump on average?

How will i be in the future in high jump and triple jump?

I am a sophmoore right now, and i just turned 16 years old and im 6'1, 150lbs. As a freshman my best was 5'4 on high jump, and 35'7 on triple jump. now my PR is 5'10 on high jump, and 37 ft for triple jump. what do u think ill be by this track season or my senior year|||well i dont know about high jump because i dont do it, but triple jump im guessing youll probably be in the 40s. it depends on how hard you work on it though. i also do triple jump and long jump and got a lot better at the end of the season after i trained a lot.

Can a 17yr old Figure skating begginer do a triple jump?

I'm 17 and i am started to learn figure skating 1week ago.

I was wondering can a men figure skater who started at the age of 17 do a triple jump if he trains hard??

(male skater)|||Uhmmm, I'm gonna be honest with you, It's not likely. It is possible, but it would take a long time. You're not gonna be able to do a triple this year or probably next year if you just started a week ago. You would have to go to skating sessions probably every day for an hour or more and then you would still have to work out off ice, get a private coach to train with you for at least 3 or 4 days a week. You'd have to start eating a balanced diet and work with a personal trainer. There also usually comes a time when people physically cannot really advance much more when it comes to skating and you're going to be at that age pretty soon ( it's not a specific age, but young 20s usually...). It also depends on how you are already progressing. If you can do crossovers and such, then you're on the right track. However, if you fall every time that you skate and are unbalanced, you probably won't ever be able to do a triple. The types of coaches at your rink will also effect how fast you move along. If you go to a freestyle and nobody there can do even a double and they've been skating for a while, that's probably how you will be (Trust me, this is how my 1st rink was) but if there are a bunch of really good skaters there that means that there are really good and helpful coaches and you'll probably progress faster.

If you plan on sticking with skating, you should probably be aware of the expenses too. Skate boots alone cost hundreds of dollars and so do blades. If you keep advancing you'll need more expensive and more supportive skates as you go. Then you have ice time prices, private coach prices, blade sharpening prices( you'd have to sharpen them a lot if you're going to be that serious). Then you'd have a bag and the competition and testing fees (if you wanted to compete) and cost for clothes, etc. It really adds up and if you do it for years like that, it will be a lot. Then you have to make sure that you'd have time to work on Homework and if you're still in school and friends.

I'm sorry! I don't want to be mean but I'm going to be realistic. I don't want people to waste their time and money on something like this if their goal is to get REALLY good really fast because it may not happen. I'd keep skating for a bit and see how I progressed and ask a coach if they think that is a reasonable goal with how you've been skating.

Hope that I helped a bit.|||Maybe, if you're really talented, with really hard work and very good coaches after a lot of years. If you lack the talent it's not gonna happen regardless of how much you train.

I know one of the coaches I've took lessons with had a guy who tested up to a 2axel after starting at like 16 or something, so presumably he would've jumped the 3-toe in practice too, I never really asked. And that's in a country with 6-month skating seasons. If you're over in the USA, things are a lot easier in that respect.

Basically the #1 problem for adults is, how to keep skating once you get to college, get a job, etc. If you can conquer those problems and you have a coach who takes adult skating seriously and has the skills to teach triples, and if you don't have to stop at some point because of injury or something, and you have the talent, then yeah sure you can do triples.|||Not for a long, long time, sweetheart. The earlier you start, the easier the jumps are. Remember, 25 is considered old in the world of figure skating. Younger people have a lot easier time jumping. Skaters who can do triples have been skating since they were less than half your age. So I'd say it's a long, long shot, but there is a tiny chance. I hate to say it, though, but probably not.|||YES! Anyone can do a triple jump if they try hard enough. It takes time, though. Don't expect to get a triple in a week. I would expect at least 3-5 years. Just keep at it and don't get discouraged!! :)|||Defiantly! You are young enough that the jumps wont be too hard on your joints, so if you work hard you can defiantly do a triple jump if you work really hard!

Good Luck!|||yes. i am 15 and i am working on my double. but it just takes time and a ton of practice! and make sure to strech so u can begin to beable to move freely|||yeah with alllloooottt of hard work

and forget what that stuck up girl said

i started skating really late and im doing ok

dont let anybody tell you you cant|||Yes Absolutely!!!

Keep working hard and i'm sure you can do it :)|||Yes!|||haha! yeah! why not?!

if you are ready and can master all the basics, go ahead!im 13 and im starting triples too!|||yes its fun go ahead chase your dream

Is it better to Long Jump in Sprint shoes or Triple Jump shoes?

for my track %26amp; field team, i do the triple jump %26amp; 100m. i currently use "Nike Zoom Triple Jump TJ" shoes for triple jumping. And i use "ASICS Japan Lite-ning 2" shoes for 100m.

my team wants me to long jump, but i was wondering which of the 2 shoes are better to long jump in %26amp; why?

Also, how much more would Long Jump shoes help compared to the other 2 shoes?|||Triple Jump shoes. Triple jump is so alike to long jump and your not required to sprint. Just don't rely on the shoes to much, it's you that matters (AHH so corny but true!).|||Ask the people at the store.

Problem solved :)

Are you allowed to slide when you land the triple jump?

i mean, if you land the triple jump and then slide, won't they just count the distance from the mark of your heel or do they count it right where ur heel is, even if u slide?|||yes but they measure from the furthest back spot of anything that touches..............

How did you do in triple jump and high jump?

As a freshman in triple jump my best was 36' 11". and in high jump my best was 5' 4". if anyone else does these events, tell me what your best was as a freshman, and if its good for a freshman. im also a male|||Can't speak for the triple, but as a high jumper I did 5'4" also. I feel like it's pretty solid for a freshman. As a senior I did 6'0" but, put had most of my focus in pole vaulting. If you keep your focus on high jump you should be doing pretty good by the end of this season, and definitely have some great results by your senior year.

Why are some people good at long jump but not triple jump?

I have noticed when we were doing athletics at school, I was around in the top sort of 5 people at long jump. But when we came to triple, I was noticeably alot better than everyone else.

What could it be about me that makes me better than everyone else? If we did the same in long jump. Is it to do with balance? Muscles? Technique? Or what. Everyone had the same time to practise it and things.

Just curious, not trying to gloat. (I'm white aswell)|||it isnt that your better than every one else, its that they cant be arsed doing triple jump as it is for girls. Guy's who do that are often bum boys who love d1ck|||Triple Jump and Long Jump are totally different events. Yes, the basic aspect of the jumps is the same;jump as far as you can but they are really much different. There are a few skills that are involved a bit more in triple jump than long. Muscle endurance, Coordination, Technique, Speed, and quickness are all used a bit more in triple. In triple, your dominant leg must jump twice so muscular endurance comes into play where as long is more about just one explosion. Coordination is pretty obvious because it is an awkward jump. Technique is extremely important especially when it gets competitive. Arm movements, opposite leg movements, body position is all extremely important. and lastly speed and quickness play an important role in both triple and long but quickness in particular is more important in triple because after your initial jump your next to jumps should be as quick as possible. you need to be light on your feet between jumps because if you plant to hard you lose alot of momentum. That was my biggest problem in Triple|||even though these two events gauge horizontal jumping they are not the same, so being good at one does not mean you will be good at the other.

It is much more difficult technically to triple jump than long jump.

In the long jump you are converting your horizontal sprint speed into a jump, in triple you are controlling your body through out all three phases of the jump.

Being good at one thing even if it is related does not make you good at another event.

I had a student who could stuff a basketball, but could not high jump.

Can i jump this amount for triple jump by saturday?

Try just doing a two or three step approach so you don't get so tired. And try doing pop-ups or bounding (if you know what they are)|||ok, first of all 33, is not bad

the best to get out of it from technique from ur hand motion and some what from ur leg and get some air in ur first and 3rd jump meaning go at little higher angle rather than going straight forward

Some were very good when they were young and some did not become good until after college.

Some elite youth athletes do not live up to their potential and do not even go to college.

What you do now is not an indicator of your abilities when you are an adult, so do what you love and hopefully you will reach your goals.|||It is true that a lot can change between the ages of 14 and 24 when you are ready for the Olympics. However, the Olympics is a challenging dream. Set your sights on goals along the route and you might eventually achieve that 'ultimate dream.'

Jumping over 11 meters is a great start and would be above average for a woman 18-22. Therefore if you can add over a meter every 3 meters (or 1 foot a year), with some great coaching you will have a chance to reach the pinnacle of your sport!

How can i get better in triple jump ?

I am a 8th grader. i am 13 years old. i just started doing triple jump this track season n i only got 29ft. coach told me that wont get me a medal in city finals so i want to get better. what exercise can i do in order for me to get better.|||Normally the biggest problem with new jumpers is they go too far in the first phase which causes the second phase to be too short.

You want your phases to be about the same distance, you can practice controlling the action in the first phase and do not go too high because you want to run off the first landing into the second phase if you go too high in the air you will collapse on landing and then try to jump off that landing rather than running off it.

Practice the first two phases on the grass using markers to guide your distances, the important thing is being able to control yourself so you can still get an effective second and third phase.

You can also judge that by the sound or time between landings.

How do you take off from the foot you want on the triple jump?

What can i do to improve my sprinting time and the length of my triple jump?

for track i do 4x1 100 and triple. in 100 i get 13.9 and in triple i get usually 29-33 feet. i want to be sent to state and i need to jump an extra foot-34 feet. and i also want to get at least a 12 second 100 also my altitude is going to change since im moving from colorado to california on the coast...help!|||the most common mistake triple jumpers make is to go too long and too high in the first phase.

If you want to go 34 feet your first phase should be about 12 feet, it is a running phase and if you go too high you will collapse on landing and not have any sprint for the second phase, which is usually the shortest phase because the first was too long.

To improve your 100 times you need to have a sprint coach to work on your starts and acceleration phase along with lifting weights, and doing plyometrics.

How to solve triple jump back problems?

Thanks bunches!!!!!|||make sure you stretch!!!! that's the most important thing. to stretch your back, you sit down and try to touch teh toes on one of your feet. also do superman holds ( for about 40 seconds at a time, maybe 3 or 4 times a day.) ask your couch for more stretches and exersises to make your back stronger. feel better :)

My best jump is 23'5. I suck, lol.

But my 2 mile time is 13:15.|||Depends how old you are.

As you change in growth, your body adapts to different things. You muscular system stops its really fast growing at around 14-17 (for girls) but your bones don't stop growing until much later. And as your muscles may have just finished developing, you may find that the balance between specific muscle groups has changed. There's actually 3 types of muscles, slow twitch, fast twitch and an intermediate group (I forget the real specifics, been a while since I studied it haha). The intermediate group can be trained a little towards both ways, it either gets adopted by the fast twitch or stays more towards the middle to assist with the slower twitch muscles (again if I'm wrong, please someone correct me).

If you've been more active in doing lots of jogging or aerobic type activities lately, you may have developed more on the side of slower twitch. Also, your body may have just changed to not benefit the triple jump.

Who said there was anything wrong with 2mile running?! Your talent may just be somewhere you didn't expect it.|||well there are two kinds of muscle fibres. the sprinting and jumping events use fast twitch muscle fibres and long distance requires slow twitch muscle fibres if you have more slow twitch fibres you are not gonna be a good sprinter and a good sprinter cant be a good distance runner they dont have the right muscle fibres and yeah they definetly effect on wat kind of event you are gonna do. And there is absoluty nothing like jumping muscles and running muscles
