Triple jump or long jump spikes?

I'm a serious triple jumper and long jumper. I am going to buy some new spikes but don't know if I could get triple jump spikes and long jump in them too, or long jump spikes and triple in them as well. I've heard its better to get triple jump ones, but i'm just afraid they will hold me back when i long jump. thoughts please!|||Long jump spikes for sure,.

Need help w/triple jump approach - very inconsistant even though I do many run throughs and practice.?

I can practice run throughs and jumps for my triple jump and be dead on. However, once I hit meets, I can be off by as much as a foot! It's driving me crazy. Any tips out there?|||if your mark is leading you to be faulting over the line-its because youre wearing lighter clothing and strides are a tad longer. just move it back 3 inches or so and thatll help.

if you mean youre ending mark where you land, then just remeber to extend out your legs and arms-thatll pick up a little extra.

the day before the meet dont TJ more than 5 times-otherwise youre body iwll be tired of it the next day you try it in meet. if those dont help then its all mental and you just stumble under the heat like some do.|||i'm assuming you mean your foot is either way over or before the jumping line. if soo

)go up to the line where you will jump from and put your jumping leg heel on the line facing away from the sand pit

2)running away from the sand pit (with the pace you will use when you're doing ur real jump)count each time your jumping leg hits the ground and at around 4-6 times (depends on how long you like to run b4 you jump) stop and mark the spot

3)when you start your run put your jumping foot with the toe on the mark you just made. this will make it so you don't have to worry about getting ur foot right on the line, it will automatically

be there. trust me it works,

otherwise if you're saying that your jump distance isn't as good at meets. then its just all in your head. just tell yourself its no big deal and don't get jumpy or excited. just stay relax and just od your beset

NO one at this rink can land a triple jump?

So are they bad teachers?|||Of course not! There's two people in my whole CITY who can land triples, but between the three clubs in my city, we had at least one skater on the podium for every level from pre-preliminary up through and including junior at the Regionals last October. The fact that no one can land a triple doesn't mean the coaches are bad. It means that the skaters aren't dedicated enough, or the ones who get close to triples move away because of a parent's job if college. To some extent, it depends totally on the skater.

This little story relates a bit- my coach was competing at the intermediate level when she stopped competing, and she had her double axel, triple salchow, triple toeloop, and triple loop. She has only ever had one skater, in nearly 20 years of coaching, land double axels. My other coach was competing at the senior level when he stopped competing, he had all his triple jumps except triple axel. He has had 1 skater from my city land double axels, and 2 from the city he previously coached in. I am my primary coach's highest level student, I'm working on double axels. I'm my secondary coach's fourth highest skater, he has 1 landing double axels and another two that haven't landed them, but are much closer than me, and are competing at a higher level than me.

Does that mean that my first coach is bad? No! My mom has asked me before if I want to switch coaches because she has only had 1 skater land double axels, and I said no, because if I switch, she'll never have a second, and then she won't ever have more students land double axels.|||Ha, of course not! That's a ridiculous statement, right there. Learning triple jumps takes years, lots and lots of ice time, dedication, money, and plenty of talent. There are many factors in the ability to land a triple jump, not just coaching ability. I'd say that only half of the figure skating population will ever be able to land triple jumps, with maybe three quarters of that half actually attempting them, and three quarters of that three quarters having the dedication to pull through and actually land the jumps.

My rink doesn't have anyone besides me working on doubles, but the coaches are fantastic! It's because we don't get freestyle ice time, much less public ice that's been resurfaced well after hockey practice. Figure skaters don't like coming to my rink because of the obvious annoyances.

So, in conclusion, a lack of triple jump-ers is by no means an indication of coaching quality. I'd look, instead, at credentials-- what tests have they passed, what PSA rating do they have, how long have they coached, where did they train? All these things, as well as the quality of their lower-level skaters' skating can be indications of what kind of coach they are.|||it could just be the atmosphere (mood and mindset). Because no one sees triples at that ice rink, they think it is impossibly hard. and because no one is jumping triples, the skaters would feel content with their own skill level, and not compare themselves with strong skaters from somewhere else.

The coaches could be bad. this might be because there are not a lot of serious skaters, so that rink attracts less coaches.|||of course not! the coaches are not responsible for the jumps--the skaters are.|||um no it's just no skaters have gotten that far. or they have they just aren't there when you are.

Triple Jump or Long Jump tips?

Can any one give me triple jump or long jump tips?|||Long Jump: run at about 7/8 speed. Settle down so that your center of gravity drops a little on your next to last step. Drive your knee and arm up, not out toward the pit. When you land bring your arms back, and as you settle into the sand bring the arms forward so you will not fall back.

Triple: The biggest mistake most people make is their first phase is too long. What is your distance? Try to limit the first phase to 1/3 that distance, so you do not lose all of your forward motion and spring. Stay low, because if you jump high then when you come down you will collapse and not be able to jump far on the next phase. Paw the ground with your foot, do not block and then try to jump into the next phase. Work your arms so that you take big steps.|||Triple Jump tip - Improve the STEP part of your jump. This will help you with improving your distance. If you are currently stepping 12 feet, try to improve so that you increast to 13 or 14 feet. You will need to practice your hop and step more each day. You will need to balance yourself while maintaining your speed to continue into your jump, however first you will need to learn to increase your step. In high school I went from a 46'0 jumper to a 49'0, just by working on my steps.|||learn to do the splits in the air

Best exercises for triple jump?

I have started doing triple jump for my highschool and I want to know what specific exercises I can do to make me better.|||Stepping,.

Is this a good first triple jump?

ok i just learned today how to triple jump and i jumped 34 ft. is this ok for a beginner? I have good form in the air but i still have no idea what im doing. i would like to jump for track my senior year. im a junior and track season just ended and ive never jumped before? is it possible to improve my jump by 5-6 feet in one year?|||34 ft is fairly decent jump for a first time triple jumper. I only jumped around 33 ft the first time i did it last year and now this season I am jumping around 41 ft. It is completely possible to improve your jump by 5-6 feet. Just do a lot of weights in the summer and some other triple jump drills and you should make your goal easily. Good Luck!|||yea what he said
