Do you need to use spikes in the Triple Jump for Track?

My main event in Track is going to be the Triple Jump. We JUST found out that our first scrimmage is in two days :P. I don't have spikes yet, but I do have very lightweight shoes with a good jumping heel. You can see them at %26lt;%26gt;.http://journeys.com/catalog_detail.aspx?ID=68805%26gt;. Can I at least use these for a scrimmage? I know they probably aren't ideal, but hey. Thank you!|||You don't really spikes for the triple jump. But they do help out A LOT. The lightweight shoes will work in the meantime but get those spikes ASAP. You will see the difference when you use them. Keep at it and good luck.

Dave|||You should use spikes for the jumps. You can buy specialized jumps spikes, but if you are going to be running too you can get sprint spikes that will be decent jump spikes.

However, you can jump in anything that is comfortable. Even barefoot if you like.|||Absoultly not u sometomes get screwed up with landing on spikes|||spikes are ideal for triple jump, especially the ones designed for the event. dont listen to all the other people about how it will mess up your landing, because it doesnt and they probly just dont do it rite!

anyway, spikes help get traction adn help you run faster on the runway. if you cant get spikes in time for your scrimmage, the lightweight shoe should be fine, but i definitely recommend that you get spikes for the next one.

hope it helps:)
