Triple jump question to all you Track and Field masters?

Triple jump question to all you Track and Field masters?

ok. so, i am in seventh grade, and my triple jump coach told me that it is bad to jump To Far on the first fase (the first jump). How is this true? And...when i take the step inbetween the two jumps, i always pull a muscle at the back of my leg. how do i stop this? Thanks in advance.|||First question:

When doing triple jump, if you jump as far as you can on the first jump, you'll come down too hard and off balance and will not be able to jump very far on the other two jumps. It is best for the first jump to be mostly forwards, don't get as much height on it as you usually would, just kind of push yourself forwards. It's kind of like a very big running stride.

For the second question, the first thing I think of is are you stretching enough. If you don't jog and stretch to warm up and loosen your muscles before a physically demanding track meet or practice, you risk hurting yourself with all the strain you put on your unprepared muscles. Take a lap and the do some stretches before you train or compete. If you already do a warm up, then my next advice would be to see a physiotherapist if you can.
