Can a 17yr old Figure skating begginer do a triple jump?

I'm 17 and i am started to learn figure skating 1week ago.

I was wondering can a men figure skater who started at the age of 17 do a triple jump if he trains hard??

(male skater)|||Uhmmm, I'm gonna be honest with you, It's not likely. It is possible, but it would take a long time. You're not gonna be able to do a triple this year or probably next year if you just started a week ago. You would have to go to skating sessions probably every day for an hour or more and then you would still have to work out off ice, get a private coach to train with you for at least 3 or 4 days a week. You'd have to start eating a balanced diet and work with a personal trainer. There also usually comes a time when people physically cannot really advance much more when it comes to skating and you're going to be at that age pretty soon ( it's not a specific age, but young 20s usually...). It also depends on how you are already progressing. If you can do crossovers and such, then you're on the right track. However, if you fall every time that you skate and are unbalanced, you probably won't ever be able to do a triple. The types of coaches at your rink will also effect how fast you move along. If you go to a freestyle and nobody there can do even a double and they've been skating for a while, that's probably how you will be (Trust me, this is how my 1st rink was) but if there are a bunch of really good skaters there that means that there are really good and helpful coaches and you'll probably progress faster.

If you plan on sticking with skating, you should probably be aware of the expenses too. Skate boots alone cost hundreds of dollars and so do blades. If you keep advancing you'll need more expensive and more supportive skates as you go. Then you have ice time prices, private coach prices, blade sharpening prices( you'd have to sharpen them a lot if you're going to be that serious). Then you'd have a bag and the competition and testing fees (if you wanted to compete) and cost for clothes, etc. It really adds up and if you do it for years like that, it will be a lot. Then you have to make sure that you'd have time to work on Homework and if you're still in school and friends.

I'm sorry! I don't want to be mean but I'm going to be realistic. I don't want people to waste their time and money on something like this if their goal is to get REALLY good really fast because it may not happen. I'd keep skating for a bit and see how I progressed and ask a coach if they think that is a reasonable goal with how you've been skating.

Hope that I helped a bit.|||Maybe, if you're really talented, with really hard work and very good coaches after a lot of years. If you lack the talent it's not gonna happen regardless of how much you train.

I know one of the coaches I've took lessons with had a guy who tested up to a 2axel after starting at like 16 or something, so presumably he would've jumped the 3-toe in practice too, I never really asked. And that's in a country with 6-month skating seasons. If you're over in the USA, things are a lot easier in that respect.

Basically the #1 problem for adults is, how to keep skating once you get to college, get a job, etc. If you can conquer those problems and you have a coach who takes adult skating seriously and has the skills to teach triples, and if you don't have to stop at some point because of injury or something, and you have the talent, then yeah sure you can do triples.|||Not for a long, long time, sweetheart. The earlier you start, the easier the jumps are. Remember, 25 is considered old in the world of figure skating. Younger people have a lot easier time jumping. Skaters who can do triples have been skating since they were less than half your age. So I'd say it's a long, long shot, but there is a tiny chance. I hate to say it, though, but probably not.|||YES! Anyone can do a triple jump if they try hard enough. It takes time, though. Don't expect to get a triple in a week. I would expect at least 3-5 years. Just keep at it and don't get discouraged!! :)|||Defiantly! You are young enough that the jumps wont be too hard on your joints, so if you work hard you can defiantly do a triple jump if you work really hard!

Good Luck!|||yes. i am 15 and i am working on my double. but it just takes time and a ton of practice! and make sure to strech so u can begin to beable to move freely|||yeah with alllloooottt of hard work
