I have noticed when we were doing athletics at school, I was around in the top sort of 5 people at long jump. But when we came to triple, I was noticeably alot better than everyone else.
What could it be about me that makes me better than everyone else? If we did the same in long jump. Is it to do with balance? Muscles? Technique? Or what. Everyone had the same time to practise it and things.
Just curious, not trying to gloat. (I'm white aswell)|||it isnt that your better than every one else, its that they cant be arsed doing triple jump as it is for girls. Guy's who do that are often bum boys who love d1ck|||Triple Jump and Long Jump are totally different events. Yes, the basic aspect of the jumps is the same;jump as far as you can but they are really much different. There are a few skills that are involved a bit more in triple jump than long. Muscle endurance, Coordination, Technique, Speed, and quickness are all used a bit more in triple. In triple, your dominant leg must jump twice so muscular endurance comes into play where as long is more about just one explosion. Coordination is pretty obvious because it is an awkward jump. Technique is extremely important especially when it gets competitive. Arm movements, opposite leg movements, body position is all extremely important. and lastly speed and quickness play an important role in both triple and long but quickness in particular is more important in triple because after your initial jump your next to jumps should be as quick as possible. you need to be light on your feet between jumps because if you plant to hard you lose alot of momentum. That was my biggest problem in Triple|||even though these two events gauge horizontal jumping they are not the same, so being good at one does not mean you will be good at the other.
It is much more difficult technically to triple jump than long jump.
In the long jump you are converting your horizontal sprint speed into a jump, in triple you are controlling your body through out all three phases of the jump.
Being good at one thing even if it is related does not make you good at another event.
I had a student who could stuff a basketball, but could not high jump.
